Offshore Cable & Flexi-Pipe Project — 5,000 T and 10,000 T Carousels 2024

In the first quarter of 2024 we delivered a combined cable and flexi-pipe handling solution. The scope included a 5,000 T carousel for a cable and flexi-pipe-laying vessel, plus two 10,000 T transportation carousels, each with its own loading tower and transpooling system.

The 5,000 T demountable carousel was mobilised and installed onboard the vessel Millennium 3 at our quayside in Jebel Ali, UAE. It was built to handle offshore cable and flexi-pipe transport and laying, which calls for robust, high-capacity equipment.

We covered the full job: engineering, fabrication, mobilisation and installation. It's a good example of delivering large offshore handling equipment and running a complex vessel mobilisation on a tight schedule.

Mobilisation 3,500 T Carousel 2023

In 2023 we mobilised a 3,500 T carousel onto a cable-lay barge. To save time, we prepared the carousel so it could be lifted onboard in two separate lifts rather than one.

The first lift placed the base frame, and the second set the cable basket on top. Splitting it this way cut the mobilisation time noticeably and kept the operation straightforward and safe.

2,500 T Transport Carousel and Barge Project 2020

Across 2019 and 2020 we designed, engineered and built a 2,500 T transport carousel, fully integrated into a transport barge. The project covered the carousel itself along with all the deck equipment needed for safe, efficient transport.

The work was carried out to offshore industry standards, with a focus on solid engineering, structural integrity and reliable day-to-day operation. The finished barge handles and transports heavy equipment for a range of offshore installation and logistics jobs.

It's a project that reflects our experience with large, complex offshore engineering, combining a practical design with robust construction.

Cable Laying Vessel Mobilisation 2023

We engineered and built a complete cable-lay spread and mobilised it onboard our client's vessel, the MV Blue Sky, at our quayside in Jebel Ali.

The spread included a 3,500 T carousel, a loading tower, a 10 T tracked tensioner, cable ways and a cable chute, everything needed to turn the vessel into a working cable-laying platform, ready for offshore operations.

In March 2023 our company successfully executed an EPIC contract for our client covering the delivery of advanced cable handling and storage systems in support of subsea cable operations.

The scope of work included the engineering construction and commissioning of two high capacity carousels with nominal capacities of 3,000 T and 3,500 T respectively. In addition loading towers and tensioner systems were designed and integrated to ensure controlled and efficient cable handling throughout the operation.

As part of the project we also delivered a complete storage spread and lay spread enabling safe and reliable transpooling of subsea cables from the cable laying vessel to the shore based storage system. Particular attention was given to operational reliability safety and interface management between vessel equipment and shore facilities.

The project was executed in accordance with strict HSE requirements and industry standards demonstrating our capability to manage complex cable logistics and heavy offshore equipment within an integrated EPIC framework. This project reflects our hands on approach technical expertise and commitment to delivering practical solutions for demanding offshore cable installation projects.

Cable Laying Project — 2,500 T Carousel New Build 2020

In September 2020 we delivered a 2,500 T carousel for a cable-laying project in the Great Lakes region of North America. We designed and built the carousel in the Netherlands, to the specific requirements of the project.

The 2,500 T carousel is fully demountable and came with its own loading tower. We built it for easy transport and mobilisation, and shipped it in 40 ft open-top containers from the UAE to the United States. The demountable design made the logistics and on-site installation a lot simpler.

We covered the engineering, fabrication and international transport. It's a good example of delivering modular, high-capacity cable handling equipment for projects with complex logistics.

In the first quarter of 2021 we delivered a high-capacity carousel system for an offshore cable-laying project. We designed and built a demountable carousel available in 2,500 T, 5,000 T and 7,000 T configurations, giving the flexibility to match different cable loads and operations.

We also supplied a loading tower with a 5 T tensioner, all made at our facility in Dubai. The final delivery was a DNV-certified 7,000 T carousel with its loading tower and 5 T tensioner, built to fully comply with ATEX Zone 2 safety standards.

From engineering and fabrication through certification and delivery, this project shows we can supply certified, high-capacity cable handling equipment that meets strict offshore and hazardous-area safety requirements.
